How To Use the Total Gym Fitness Equipment

Are you searching for a new home workout? If so, the total gym fitness have everything you're looking for. Some people may be skeptical or even doubtful that piece of home equipment works. Well, I'm here to tell you that it does work and I'm going to tell you how.
I'm sure you've seen this as seen on T.V. piece of equipment with celebrity marketers. It uses your own body weight as resistance. It does actually fit nicely in a workout room or the basement of your home.

What can the total gym be used for? It can be used to increase strength, develop the core muscles, increase range of motion of a joint, and rehabilitate muscles.
Increase Strength:
The total gym can be used by a novice user or an advanced user. It does have the ability to increase strength and change the body composition of a novice just starting a workout program. The machine comes with an instructional video and set of sample workouts. The total gym does require you to be consistent with your workouts. Females can significantly benefit by increasing strength and muscular endurance.
Develop the Core Muscles:
Since this machine uses your own body weight as resistance it requires you to use your "core" muscles. The total gym can target a specific set of muscles while you are activating your "core."
Working the "core" muscles not only tightens your midsection but can completely change the efficiency of other movements and workouts. When you have a strong, stable "core," raking leaves, shoveling snow, lifting the baby, and carrying groceries all becomes easier and more efficient. There is also less chance of injury when the "core" is stable.
Increase Range of Motion:
The total gym targets large muscle groups that cross major joints of the body. When these joints are exercised, strengthened and taking beyond their limits this increases range of motion. Joints with the ability to have increase motion are the shoulder complex, hip joint, and knee. These are the three biggest joints in the body.
Rehabilitate injured muscles:
The total gym has the ability to strengthen muscles that have become injured or weak. This is an advanced process and should be overseen by a healthcare professional such as a chiropractor or physical therapist.
How does the Total Gym Work?
There are a few different models of the Total Gym ranging from the 2000 to the XLS (with more attachments/options and thicker padding) to the commercial grade EFI GTS. All different forms work well and work by the same principles.
There is a vertical base at the top with 2 rails which rest in one of many grooves within the base. The rails provide a very low friction ramp to hold the bench which is where you either sit or lie.
Each groove on the base allows you to set the resistance by varying the angle of the bench. If you are sitting on the bench, the higher it is, the higher percentage of your body weight you will be lifting with each repetition.
Cables and a pulley attach to adjustable handles which are connected to the vertical base. A foot plate for squats is one of the many optional attachments for the Total Gym.
Each push, pull, fly or twisting motion you perform with the cables or holding on to the handles moves the resistance which happens to be a selected percentage of your body weight.
Overall, the Total Gym fitness is an extremely efficient piece of home gym equipment. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their health and well-being at home.
